Evanston Township High School District 202’s superintendent Dr. Eric Witherspoon and Academic Support Programs Specialist Sharon Weeks were honored on Nov. 5 by the Evanston-North Shore Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) at the group’s 47th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet. Both received the Community Service Award.

Dr. Witherspoon was praised for launching a variety of initiatives aimed at improving and expanding instructional opportunities at ETHS, including his leadership in restructuring the freshman experience at the high school.

Sharon Weeks works to transform the lives of youth and is dedicated to helping young people learn about history and responsibility. She is the adviser of the NAACP Youth Chapter and has received numerous awards for her exceptional leadership efforts.
