St. Athanasius School won the coveted “Best Theme” award from the City’s Streets & Sanitation Department in the sixth annual “Paint Evanston’s Plows” contest. This year’s theme was “Compost the Most.” On hand at City Hall to accept the plaque from Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl were students Michael Betz, Roan Regnier, Brennan Regnier, Daniel Betz, Elizabeth Swanson, Jules All and Cassie All.
“Take an important theme, mix it with strong design, a cadre of nearly 50 enthusiastic students and adults, and you get an excellent educational experience,” says St. A’s Principal Susan Castagna. “Snow plow painting is a great school and community spirit-building project at St. A’s!”
Students and parents will be watching the St. A’s plow as it moves snow off the streets this winter and remembering the slogan, “Don’t throw away your toast – compost the most!”
