On Jan. 5, Evanston Police Tactical Officers responded to a call that there was a burglary in progress in the 800 block of Grey Ave. at approximately 6 p.m. A witness observed a man break a window on a residence and then flee on foot, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. The witness gave police a description of the man.
Tactical officers were able to locate a man matching that description, and the witness positively identified the man, Commander Parrott said. The man, 42 years, is an Evanston resident, who was wanted by Chicago policy for a burglary in Chicago, he added. The man was charged with criminal damage to property in Evanston and turned over to the Chicago Police Department and charged with burglary in Chicago, said the Commander.
