Brillianteen, McGaw YMCA’s longstanding winter youth program, is proud to present “Grease: The School Version,” for its 61st production. This musical captures the look and sound of the 1950s in a show that salutes the rock ‘n’ roll era.
Danny Zuko (Henry Doyle) and Sandy Dumbrowski (Kayla Hagaman) resolve the problems of their mutual attraction for each other, the whole gang (Justin Lee, Nancy Farr, Ashley Smith-Andoh, Jacob Fajerstein, Libby Goldman, Hunter Wilson, Nevin Cunningham, Molly Kipnis and a hundred more) sings and dances its way through such nostalgic 50s’ settings.
Patty Sprague and Liz Cloud direct the production, with choreography by Cindi Schuneman, and music direction by Alan Zunamon and Julie Chernoff.
Some Evanstonians, including Eric Witherspoon, District 202 Superintendent, will have cameo roles. Brillianteen has been fortunate to work with Broadway actress and ETHS alum Kate Hanley, who portrayed the character of Marty in the original Broadway cast of “Grease.”
The show will be performed at King Lab School Auditorium, 2424 Lake St. Times and ticket information are available at www.mcgawymca.org/youth-teens or via phone through the Brillianteen Ticket Hotline at 847-475-7400, ext. 277 and at the McGaw Y front desk, 1000 Grove St.
