The YWCA Evanston/North Shore is pleased to announce that Anita Weinberg has been elected Chair of the YWCA Board of Directors. Weinberg, an attorney and social worker who has worked on behalf of underserved children and families for 35 years, is currently a Clinical Professor and Director of the ChildLaw Policy Institute at Loyola University School of Law. Weinberg teaches courses in legislative advocacy, domestic violence, and children’s “best interests,” and established the Law School’s first Policy and Legislative Clinic, which she directs. She has been a member of the Board of Directors for the YWCA Evanston/North Shore for the past six years.
“Anita has brought her leadership and expertise as a long-time advocate for families to the YWCA,” remarked Karen Singer, President and CEO of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore. “She has guided us through two strategic plans and has been a part of the team that has helped us grow and build our sustainability. We are thrilled that she will continue to provide guidance and leadership as we strengthen our programs, increase our impact around racial justice and women’s empowerment issues and engage the community in the work we do.”
