How to cultivate peace and compassionate awareness in times of change is the focus of a day of mindfulness, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 4 at the Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd.
The day of mindfulness is sponsored by Evanston-based Lakeside Buddha Sangha and will include sitting and indoor and outdoor walking meditation and talks by Lakeside teachers Jack and Laurie Lawlor. Lakeside is a 20-year-old meditation group founded in the tradition of Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Zen monk and writer.
A registration fee of $44 includes breakfast snack and vegetarian lunch. Vegan option is available. Meditation instruction will be provided. Participants are advised to bring a sitting cushion or bench. Chairs are available. Space is limited; registration closes after March 1.
