Local chefs took nearly 100 guests on a culinary excursion as they sampled signature appetizers and desserts. The evening raised more than $22,000, which will support IWSE’s programs providing high-quality early childhood education and family support services for teen parents and low-income families with young children in the city of Evanston and the surrounding communities.

Guests enjoyed truffled mac and cheese, Maryland crabcakes, braised beef short ribs in drunken sauce, fish tacos with spicy kim che relish, crispy salmon spring rolls with noodle salad as well as a panoply of pastries while learning about IWSE’s 99-year history of service to our community.

Participating chefs included The Hearty Boys, Evanston residents and winners of the first season of “Food Network Stars”; Vince di Battista of Evanston’s Campagnola; Jeff Perin of Davis Street Fishmarket; Jonadab Silva of Hota (formerly Jacky’s on Prairie); Highland Park resident Geoff Felsenthal of the International Institute of Art, Chicago; and Evanston’s Victor Hernandez of Stained Glass Bistro. The opulent sweet table was created by local baker Dia Walsh. Evanston Distillery FEW Spritist provided Whisky samplings that were paired with artisan cheeses from the Irish Dairy Board.

A week’s vacation at a private home in the Moonlight Basin area of Montana was the auction’s top prize, and the Celebrity Distiller for a Day experiential auction package from FEW Spirits was also hotly contested. Warm Your Palate is the first time IWSE has held an evening event, and the popular consensus amongst guests is that it should become an annual, signature fundraiser for the agency.
