At 3 p.m. on March 11 at St. Mary’s Church, an Evanston interfaith group will sing “The Stations of the Cross,” featuring original music composed by Evanston resident Don Colleton. This marks the eighth annual presentation of this powerful and beautiful work.
The Stations of the Cross is a traditional devotion reflecting on the passion and death of Jesus, commemorated by Christians in preparation for Easter.
Mr. Colleton’s original work combines the traditional Catholic text of the Stations with new musical compositions that stir the soul.
“I have never been so moved, or felt so ready for Easter,” said one Evanston resident of last year’s “Stations.”
The service features the tight harmony and strong solo voices of singers from a range of Evanston faith communities, accompanied by piano and cello.
The “Stations of the Cross” is open to all and free of charge. St. Mary’s Church is located at Lake Street and Oak Avenue.
