On March 5 at approximately 1:55 p.m., Evanston Police responded to a call of a criminal sexual assault that had just occurred in the 1900 block of Dewey Avenue, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. The victim, a 19-year old female, called police from the Family Focus Center to report the attack, together with a description of the offender. A patrol officer in the area located a subject matching the description within a very short period of time.
The victim positively identified the subject as the man who sexually assaulted her. The man, 24 years-old and a resident of Chicago, was placed under arrest and transported to the Evanston Police Department for further investigation.
Evanston Police detectives learned through their investigation that the victim, an Evanston resident, had exited a C.T.A. bus at Emerson Street and Dodge Avenue, and was heading home. She was followed by a man who exited the same bus. The victim said the man grabbed her and pulled her between two houses and then slammed her to the ground, said the Commander. The man removed the victim’s clothing and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her, said the Commander. The victim was examined and released from a local hospital, he said.
The man admitted committing the sexual assault to detectives conducting the investigation, said the Commander. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Felony Review Unit approved three counts of Criminal Sexual Assault against the man.
