Boys track & field won its fifth consecutive Dan Phillips 12 Team Invitational by a score of 85 points, outdistancing Thornton at 67 ½ points, and Thornwood, 50 points. Evanston won four out of five relays:
• The two mile relay, Josh Montgomery, Koren Fowler, Carl Klamm, and Aaron Mann, with a personal record time of 8:22.4.
• Frosh/Soph 4-lap relay, Reggie Murphy, Ramon Hayes, Linval Rose, Areman Algheband, with a personal record time of 1:18.1.
• Sprint Medley Relay, Pat Klamm, Antonio Johnson, Rashad Morris and Aaron Mann with a time of 3:37.1.
• The one mile relay, Demonte Hill, Josh Montgomery, Antonio Johnson, Pat Klamm, 3:36.91.
Evanston also performed well in individual events, as Lawrence Northern won the high jump clearing 6’6″, Xavier Levy won two close seconds in the high hurdles (7,53) and the 50 yard dash (5.44), Demonte Hill took second in the long jump (20’8″) and Zack Hussain finished 2nd in the shot put with a personal record of 50’0″. Evanston’s next track meet is the Central Suburban League South, at 5 p.m. on March 16 at the ETHS field house.
Girls track & field had a couple of record breaking performances at the Hinsdale Central Invite. The mile relay team of Margaret Bamgbose, Parker English, Jahnelle Horton and Kayla Parker set a Hinsdale Central meet and fieldhouse record with a time of 4:00 flat. Even more impressive, Margaret Bamgbose set an ETHS record (extremely difficult to do) in the 300 as she sprinted to a blistering 40.02.
Boys and girls water polo earned a pair of wins earlier this month, as the boys toppled Highland Park 15-9 and the girls defeated Deerfield/Highland Park co-op 12-4.
