Governor Pat Quinn has proclaimed March 2012 as Illinois Affordable Housing Month, underscoring the magnitude of the housing crisis and urging that “the talents of grassroots organizations, non-profit housing professionals, financial institutions, elected officials, and government must be combined to address the immense challenge of ensuring that every person in Illinois has access to affordable housing.”
Gov. Quinn recently appointeed Gail Schechter, executive director of the Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs, to the State Housing Appeals Board as the designated “affordable housing advocate” member.
