The City of Evanston announced the launch of a new tool that will allow residents to sign-up for text message or e-mail alerts to remind them of street sweeping operations on their street. The launch of this new tool coincides with the beginning of the 2012 street sweeping season, which runs from April 2 to November 30.

“This simple alert system will allow residents to be better informed of street sweeping in their area and help give them ample warning to move their cars in order to avoid a parking citation,” explained Rickey Voss, Parking and Revenue Manager for the city. “Residents are also reminded that they should always check the posted parking signs before parking on a public street.”

Text or e-mail notifications will be sent to subscribers one to two days prior to the actual street sweeping day. A user simply needs to go to to sign up for the alerts. In order to start receiving notifications, they only need to determine their street sweeping district, enter their mobile number or e-mail address and then select from a list of districts.
