On April 4 at about 12:35 p.m., Evanston Police responded to a call that a man was being chased by an employee of L.A. Fitness, 1600 block of Sherman Avenue, for breaking into a locker, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. Police were told that the man had gone to the Davis Street C.T.A. station. Police were able to take the suspect into custody at that location.
The suspect was identified as the man who was trying to break into lockers in the men’s locker room at L.A. Fitness, said the Commander. Police recovered bolt cutters from the suspect along with other items linking him to other locker thefts.
The suspect, a 50-year resident of Chicago, was charged with possession of burglary tools and felony burglary, said the Commander. Police learned that the suspect was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections and had two active warrants for his arrest.
