The City of Evanston has been informed by community members that alternative electricity suppliers are soliciting Evanston residents to buy their products. These suppliers do not represent the City of Evanston.
The city is in the process of soliciting proposals from alternate retail electric suppliers to provide electric supply for the Evanston Community Choice Energy Aggregation Program following the passage of the Electricity Aggregation Referendum on March 20 2012. Staff has moved forward with developing and adopting a Plan of Operation and Governance, which is required under the law. The Evanston City Council will select the supplier and lock in an electric supply rate ($/kWh) once final proposals are received. Staff estimates this announcement will be made around May 2, 2012.
Any supplier making phone calls or visiting a residence or business in person is not representing the City of Evanston nor providing information as part of a city program.
