About two inches of rain and who knows how much hail peltedEvanstonin last night’s series of storms. City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz reports that the biggest incident was the collapse of part of the façade at St. James Armenian Church,816 Clark St.Bricks fell to the sidewalk. A few people were injured by falling bricks, but none seriously, he said.
There was localized flooding throughout City. Several apartments on Noyes Courtreceived water damage. One apartment was seriously flooded, the City Manager said.
Fire and community development staff were on the scene at Noyes Court and at St. James church.
Mr. Bobkiewicz also report that, in an incident that appears to be unrelated to the storm, an air conditioner line at the theater at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center burst, causing some water issues.NEXT Theater has cancelled its performance this evening, May 11, because of some minor water damage.
