On May 7, the District 65 School Board appointed Ellen Fogelberg as the Interim Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Curriculum and Operations. The appointment is effective July 1, when the current assistant superintendent, Michael Robey, will be leaving District 65 and taking on his new role as superintendent for the Maywood-Melrose Park-Broadview District 89.
Ms. Fogelberg began working at District 65 in 1987 as a reading teacher at Lincolnwood Elementary School. Ms. Fogelberg has a Master of Science in Teaching – Reading Specialist from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College.
“Ms. Fogelberg is a proven leader,” said Superintendent Hardy Murphy. “She understands our schools, our instructional programs and initiatives; and she has shown us again and again that she is willing to do what it takes for students and student achievement. She is well respected by her colleagues, by our teachers and in the community.”
