On June 20, Evanston Police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist in the 2200 block of Church St. at approx. 7:45 a.m. The preliminary investigation by police determined that a 15-year old male Evanston resident was riding a bicycle to Evanston Township High School for summer school, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. The bicyclist was riding eastbound on Church Street against the flow of traffic in the westbound curb lane. The bicyclist then turned in front of a vehicle traveling westbound. The bicyclist was then struck by the westbound auto. The bicyclist was transported by Evanston Fire Department paramedics to St. Francis Hospital for treatment, said the Commander.

The injuries sustained are not believed to be life threatening at this time and no citations are expected against the driver of the vehicle involved, said the Commander.  School officials were notified of the incident
