At about 3:45 p.m. on July 5, Evanston Police were called to the south end of Mason Park, Florence Avenue at Church Street, because of a report of drug dealing. The responding officers located a vehicle matching the description provided by a 9-1-1 caller; two males were inside. With assistance from the Skokie Police Department’s Canine Unit, officers conducted a search of the subjects and the vehicle, which resulted in the recovery of 27.2 grams of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana, and 3.8 grams of a white chunky substance suspected to be cocaine, a scale, and $1,351 in cash, according to a press release from the Evanston Police Department. The suspected drugs tested positive in U.S. currency. All suspect drugs field tested positive, according to the police statement.

The subjects were taken into custody, identified, and transported to the Evanston Police Department for processing. The Evanston Police apprised the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office of the facts and the situation.  

A 34-year-old man from Newhope, Minn., was arrested charged as follows, according to the Evanston police:

Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License

A second suspect, a 31-year-old Evanston man, was charged with a City Ordinance Violation for Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.

Both men are to appear in court at the Skokie Court House, 5600 Old Orchard Road, Skokie, at 9 a.m. on Aug. 15.
