“Janet and the Beanstalk,” a play for very young audiences from the Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre, debuted on July 21 at the Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd. Members of the theatre’s Teen Drama Acting Ensemble performed the play again on July 28, with their final performance on Aug. 4. Artistic director Tim Rhoze directed a cast of three: Kara Rosenborough, Rania Adamczyk and Aubrey Marquez.

Ms. Rosenborough, who composed and choreographed the production, is a student at the Chicago Academy for the Arts. Violinist Ms. Adamczyk is also a student at the Academy. Aubrey Marquez, the bean-seller, is a student at Columbia College.
The actors were energetic and professional as they engaged the audience in this intimate and spirited production of a modern twist on the classic tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” The performances are suitable for children age 4 and older.

After the performance, the audience was invited to participate in outdoor activities such as planting beans and a bean toss. As were the previous two performances, the Aug. 4 performance is free.
