On Aug. 1 at approximately 2:45 p.m. Evanston Police received a 911 call that men with guns were at a residence in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue.

On the scene, the victim, a 21-year old male, told police officers that he answered a knock on the door to his unit when he was confronted by three men brandishing guns, while a fourth reportedly stood watch outside, said Perry Polinski of the Evanston Police Department. At the time of the incident, the residence was also occupied by two female adults and three children.

At the time of the incident, the victim had been in the process of styling one of the woman’s hair while the other woman was waiting, said Officer Polinski. Both the victim and witnesses reported hearing one or more of the perpetrators make reference to the location of money and drugs. The perpetrators fled after two of the occupants were able to escape. No injuries were reported. Officers searched the area with negative results.
