Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, 13th District, is encouraging all homeowners within Evanston Township to appeal their property tax assessment to the Cook County Board of Review for tax year 2012 (assessment as of January 1, 2012) for taxes payable next year.

“The Cook County Board of Review’s Office will be open for Evanston Township homeowners on August 6 to appeal their property tax assessment for 2012. Evanston homeowners can potentially reduce their assessment, which could reduce their tax liabilities for taxes payable in August of 2013. I strongly encourage homeowners to appeal,” said Commissioner Suffredin in a prepared statement.

Appeals may be filed in person at the Skokie Office of the Cook County Board of Review at 5600 Old Orchard Road, Room 155 in the Skokie Courthouse.

The Board of Review is now also accepting appeals online at:

Homeowners can also contact Commissioner Suffredin’s office at 847-864-1209 for additional information or to schedule an appointment for assistance.

The deadline to appeal is September 5, 2012.

Evanston Township will be totally reassessed by the Cook County Assessor in early 2013 for valuation of property on January 1, 2013. This reassessment will be separate from the current appeal.
