The District Educators Council (DEC, the teachers union) has just issued a prepared statement that members of DEC have approved the tentative agreement with the District 65 School Board. DEC said:
“On Friday September 7, 2012 the District 65 teachers approved the tentative contract agreement by secret ballot vote. The agreement was ratified with an 83% yes vote. The agreement will now be submitted to the full school board for approval at the September 10th school board meeting.
“The tentative agreement was reached after 6 months of bargaining sessions. DEC is appreciative of the time, energy and effort put forth from both the DEC and the School Board’s bargaining teams. The new contract agreement improves several areas of the District 65 learning and working environment and also provides avenues for making future improvements in additional areas. The District 65 teachers are eager to continue the long tradition of high quality instruction in the Evanston Skokie community.”
