At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 15, Evanston police responded to a report of several shots fired and one person shot in the 1800 block of Lyons Street. The victim, a 20-year-old male resident of DesPlaines, was lying in front of a residence, according to a statement from the Evanston Police Department.
Police determined that the victim had been walking down the street accompanied by three others, when he was shot by an unknown assailant who fled on foot. The victim sustained two gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. Evanston Fire Paramedics transported the victim to Evanston/North Shore University Hospital, where he was treated and released.
At present, the Evanston Police are conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and will continue to follow up all leads. The victim is uncooperative and investigators suspect that the incident was gang related, according to the statement.
