On Oct. 8, the District 65 School Board formally approved the appointment of Lauren Leitao as the Interim Bilingual Coordinator.  Ms. Leitao was appointed to fill the position after Ms. Concepcion Calderon accepted the Interim Principal appointment at Lincoln Elementary School.

Superintendent Hardy Murphy said, “Her experiences and educational background will be an asset in providing supports and services to the Evanston/Skokie District 65 students, families and our teachers of bilingual education.  We are very pleased to introduce her to our school community.”

Ms. Leitao was previously an ESL resource teacher, principal at Orchard Place Elementary School, and ELL Instructional Specialist, all in Des Plaines, Illinois. She holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University, and holds a Michigan State University Bachelor of Arts in Social Relations with concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
