Updated. Evanston Fire & Life Safety Services and Skokie Fire Department both responded to a report that a female had jumped into the canal at Main Street and McCormick Boulevard today, Nov. 17, at approximately 10:00 a.m., said Division Chief Dwight Hohl of Evanston Fire & Life Safety Services.
The departments conducted joint operations, and with the help of a reliable eye witness was able to determine the exact location where she went under, said the Division Chief.
The body of a 24 years old female Skokie resident was recovered, treated and transported to St. Francis Hospitalin critical condition. A follow up report from the hospital stated she had expired, said the Division Chief.
Agents of both Evanston and Skokie Police Departments were on the scene assisting as needed, he said.
