National Geographic Kids author Judy Fradin recently spoke to students in grades 3-6 at King Lab School. Her topic was non-fiction writing and research, focusing on “Volcanoes,” one of the books in her “Witness to Disaster” series. Mrs. Fradin talked about how she transforms research into a finished product, in particular highlighting the aspects of writing and rewriting.

The students appeared excited to meet a real-life author and asked interesting questions about natural disasters They were engaged in her presentation, especially discussing the photographs that accompanied it.

The author of dozens of children’s and young adult non-fiction books, Mrs. Fradin had three books published in 2011-12, and a fourth will be released in 2013. She has also co-authored many books with her late husband, Dennis Fradin.
