Evanston Police responded early this morning, Dec. 8, at approximately 1:50 a.m. to the 1900 block of Howard Street along the Evanston/Chicago border for a person shot, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. The victim was a 20-year old Evanston man shot multiple times as he exited a vehicle and appears to have been specifically targeted by two offenders, said the Commander.

“Preliminary indicators are that this incident is in retaliation for a recent homicide that occurred a little over a week ago,” said the Commander. “The victim in this incident was transported to St. Francis Hospital and is in critical condition. No further information is available at this time.”

Justin Murray, 19, was shot and killed on Nov. 29 in the 1800 block of Brown Avenue. Police Chief Richard Eddington told the RoundTable earlier this week it was uncertain “whether Justin was the target or whether the target was other people he was standing with at the time.”
