At approximately 1 a.m.this morning, Dec. 23, Evanston police responded to a call that shots were in the area of Simpson Street and Dodge Avenue. Police located a residence in the 2000 block of Dodge Avenue that had several shots fired into the home, said Commander Parrott.
There were numerous individuals in the residence at the time of the incident, including a 5-year-old and a 10-year-old, said the Commander. No one was injured as a result of the shooting, but police determined that several shots had gone through a wall and struck a mattress on which one of the children was sleeping, he said.
“Extra police patrols have been added to the area since a second homicide occurred in the area earlier this month as a part of an ongoing feud of gang-related violence,” said Commander Parrott. “Preliminary information in this incident indicates that it may be related to the ongoing violence between two extended groups feuding. Evanston police detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident. No other information is being released at this time.”
