Evanston police today, Jan. 18, executed two search warrants, one in the 2000 block of Warren Street and another in the 1300 block of Darrow Avenue. These search warrants were obtained in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation by detectives from the Evanston Police Special Operations Group, said Commander Jay Parrott. Police personnel from the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Gang Crimes North Unit assisted during the warrants.
While making entry to the single-family home in the 1300 block of Darrow Avenue, police personnel encountered a large pit bull dog that was acting aggressively toward police while attempting to secure the residence, and as a result the dog was put down, said the Commander.
Police seized between the locations, approximately 125 grams of cannabis, 1 gram of crack cocaine, several pills of Alprazolam, a controlled substance, and just over $2,300, said the Commander.
Two Evanston men, ages 27 and 43, were charged with possession of cannabis, a misdemeanor. Two Evanston men, 19 and 23, were charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, felonies. One Evanston man, 23, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, felonies, said Commander Parrott.
