The Famous Burrito Opens …
On Jan. 23, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and Second Ward Alderman Peter Braithwaite cut the ribbon for two fast-food restaurants in the southeast-corner strip mall at Main Street and Dodge Avenue. Kathy Romero and her father, Damien, together with Mauricio Coss, operate the new Mexican-food eatery, The Famous Burrito.
The layout is similar to that of Portofino’s Pizza, former occupant of the space, but the menu is all new. Asked whether she was the cook, Ms. Romero said, “Everybody’s a cook.” She then pointed behind her to a young man heading in to the kitchen area and added, “Francisco is the main cook.”

… And Subway Reopens
Almost next door to The Famous Burrito, Subway has reopened, offering another fast-food choice to passersby or hungry athletes from the fields of nearby Robert Crown Center. Ald. Braithwaite and Mayor Tisdahl cut a “re-opening ribbon” with Amin Ali, Shamin Ali and store manager Mo Siddiqui.
