The snow should come in two waves with one starting this morning and another coming in around 12:00 p.m. Snow should end by 5 p.m. today.City of Evanston Streets and Sanitation crews are currently salting both streets and sidewalks and expect to be on alert all day.
Keep Sidewalks Clear
Residents and businesses are reminded that they must clear snow and ice from the sidewalks adjacent to their respective properties for the safety of their neighbors after a snow or ice event. Do not push snow into adjacent streets, alleys or sidewalks.
Sidewalks should be completely cleared to allow everyone to travel freely using the sidewalks instead of the street. Removal of snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts and parking lots can help prevent accidents and injuries. Also be aware of elderly or disabled neighbors who cannot shovel their own walks and offer to help.
If snow is packed and difficult to remove, please use salt or sand to make sidewalks passable. Landlords are responsible for keeping sidewalks, parking lots and all common areas, including open stairwells, free from all hazardous conditions at all times.
