Elena Garcia Ansani kicked off her campaign for the District 202 School Board at the Little Mexican Café on Feb. 4. Ms. Ansani, an Evanston resident since 1993, has three children, two of whom are currently enrolled in Evanston public schools.
She is a board member of the McGaw YMCA and the Evanston Coalition for Latino Resources, a member of the City’s Race Relations Planning Committee, a member of the current Leadership Evanston class and the Illinois Latino Nonprofit Leadership Academy.
In 2003 she earned a master of arts in teaching at National Louis University and has taught students from elementary through postsecondary grade levels. She is currently working as an education researcher in completion of her doctorate in education at National-Louis University.
Ms. Ansani says she is running for the School Board “to sustain educational excellence for all, to offer my expertise in educational policy, to provide insights about 21st-century instructional best practices, and to ensure diverse voices are at 202’s decision-making table.”
