Guests enjoyed Lamb Tagine with Almond Couscous, Shrimp and Sambuca Bruschetta, Smoked Arctic Char Fettunta, Veal and Ricotta Meatballs, as well as panoply of pastries while learning about IWSE’s 100-year history of service to our community. Participating chefs included Brian Huston, Chef de Cuisine of The Publican and an Evanston resident; Vince di Battista of Evanston’s Campagnola; Jeff Perin of Davis Street Fishmarket; Highland Park resident Geoff Felsenthal of the International Institute of Art, Chicago; David Perlick of Terra Bistro, and Porfirio Balderas of That Little Mexican Cafe. The opulent sweet table was from Evanston’s Tags Bakery. Lake Bluff’s North Shore Distillery provided samplings of cocktails that were created with their signature vodka and gin that were paired with artisan cheeses from the Irish Dairy Board.
A five-night stay at the Radisson Blu Resort and Spa, St. Martin was the live auction’s top prize, selling for $1,200, and a privately catered dinner party for eight in your home was also hotly contested, going for $1,200. Other live auction prizes included a Sports Fanatic package with Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Wolves, Chicago Fire and Northwestern Football tickets, and a Taste of Evanston package with gift certificates from Oceanique, Quince at The Homestead, Lulu’s dim sum and then sum, and Taco Diablo. IWSE’s 2nd annual Warm Your Palate event was an enormous success, selling out for a capacity crowd and raising 54% over last year’s event, and will continue as a signature event for the agency. Infant Welfare Society of Evanston would like to thank our sponsors, First Bank & Trust, Leapfrog Online, Cheryl Rohlfs & Associates, Hagerty Consulting, Ward Manufacturing, Make it Better, North Shore Distillery, and Schaefer’s Wines, Foods & Spirits for helping to underwrite the evening, as well as Joseph Leigh Designs for providing the décor.
