Carrie Goldman, the author of “Bullied: What Every Parent, Teacher and Kid Needs to Know about Ending the Cycle of Fear,” will discuss bullying and its effects at 7 p.m. on March 21in Room N112 at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave. She will be the evening’s featured speaker for “The Social and Emotional Growth of Adolescents: Bullying 101,” a program for parents and students, co-sponsored by Evanston Township High School and the ETHS PTSA. There will be a question-and-answer period and Ms. Goldman will sign her book, which will be available for sale.
Ms. Goldman is a regular blogger for the Huffington Post, ChicagoNow and Psychology Today and became widely known after her blog post describing her daughter’s bullying experience went viral.
At ETHS, Ms. Goldman will speak about hidden influences on bullying in our culture, the differences between normal social conflict and bullying, steps to take with the school if your child is being bullied, strategies to prevent cyberbullying, the value of restorative actions over punitive actions in dealing with bullying behavior among other topics.
