Again this year the City of Evanston’s Health Department is sponsoring the Women Out Walking (WOW) program, a 12-week walking campaign to highlight the importance of physical activity for women. WOW begins on March 23 with an orientation session at Evanston Township High School and runs to June 15.
Throughout this campaign, participants will not only be encouraged to walk, but they will also be exposed to a variety of activities that promote health awareness and healthy lifestyles. Walking teams will walk at their own paces, at self-determined schedules and venues.
City staff will be available to offer recommendations. Walkers will be encouraged to attend a monthly walk hosted by the Health Department that will involve such themes as international awareness, going green and philanthropy, which will encompass an alternate physical activity session.
