“A Community Conversation on Childhood Obesity,” hosted jointly by School District 65, the Wellness Council, the City of Evanston and Pioneering Healthier Communities is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. on April 2 at the D65 offices in the Hill Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave.
Scheduled panelists include Goutham Rao, a leading name on the issue of childhood obesity, who is at NorthShore University Health Systems and a professor at the University of Chicago; Evonda Thomas, Evanston Health Department, and Sharon Robinson, physician. Tim Sanborn, head of Cardiology at NorthShore, will also attend, either as audience member or panelist. District 65 Superintendent Hardy Murphy, members of the District’s Wellness Council and some School Board members may also attend.
The discussion will be around how the health of the community’s children can best be supported, particularly in light of the issue of childhood obesity.
