Evanston Township High School music alums are invited to join in the upcoming celebrations honoring the retirement of Dr. David Fodor, director of the high school’s band and jazz programs for the past 22 years.
Alumni are invited to participate in either or both of two special musical events. On Thursday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m., Dr. Fodor will conduct his last ETHS band concert in the high school auditorium, 1600 Dodge Avenue, Evanston. This concert will include an alumni band performance. A reception will follow.
The second event, a jazz program, will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 8:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, 1330 Ridge Avenue, Evanston. The evening will include alumni performances as well as a reception. There will be a same-day rehearsal for all those performing that night.
Alums of all musical abilities are encouraged to take part in the celebrations. Concert organizers are hoping that everyone from professional musicians to those who haven’t picked up their instruments since high school – and all those in between – will take part in honoring the man who enriched the lives of some 2200 students during his tenure.
For planning purposes, interested alumni are asked to RSVP as soon as possible by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/fodorfest. In an effort to reach Dr. Fodor’s 20-plus years of students, organizers also ask alumni to help spread the word about the events to their classmates either via social media or direct communication.
