Union Pacific Railroad will be removing the abandoned bridge deck at Main St. on Saturday, April 20. Main St. will be closed that day from Custer Ave. to Chicago Ave. The bridge deck is being removed because the concrete slab is falling apart above the traffic lane and the sidewalk.

The street closure will start at 8 a.m. and end by 5 p.m. The pedestrian through traffic will be maintained at all times. In addition, flagmen will be present near the construction site at the intersection of Custer Ave. and Main St.; at Washington St. and Chicago Ave.; and at Main St. and Chicago Ave. to assist the local residents and the METRA commuters.

DETOUR ROUTE

• Eastbound traffic at Main St. and Custer Ave. will be directed south to Custer Ave, east to Washington St., and north to Chicago Ave.

• Westbound traffic at Main St and Chicago Ave. will be directed north to Chicago Ave., west to Greenleaf St., and south to Elmwood Ave.
