Shoppers who bring the Community Day flyer into a participating business on Central Street on April 27 will be able to choose a nonprofit to receive a percentage of the price of their purchase.

 Community Day is a twice-yearly event sponsored by the Central Street Merchants Association

Donations range from 5 percent to 20 percent of the purchase total. The benefiting organizations from Community Day Spring 2013 are C.A.R.E., Center for Independent Futures, Dreams Delivered Program of the Women’s Club of Evanston, Connections for the Homeless, Evanston Environmental Association, Evanston Public Library Friends, Evanston Symphony Orchestra, Fisher Dance Center, Mitchell Museum of the American Indian and Youth Organizations Umbrella (Y.O.U.).

Participating businesses are Allegro Dance Boutique, Apelian Rugs, an*tiq and modern, Coast Sushi + Sashimi, Foodstuffs, Gracie’s, Happy Husky Bakery, Lois & Co, Maya Papaya and Tony Macarony, Mille Fiori, Montoya Fiber Studio, North Shore Eye Center, Notice, Old Town Oil, Oliver’s Trains and Toys, Perennials, Robert Gold Salon, Stella, Symphony’s, The Spice House and Walsh Natural Health.
