On May 2, Evanston police arrested a Chicago man, age 33, for allegedly making several calls to the Evanston Police Department on May 1 and threatening to blow up the civic center and police department building, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. A total of four calls were made from a cellular phone that was traced back to the man, said the Commander. The apparent threats were allegedly made because the man was upset about receiving a parking ticket earlier in the day, added the Commander.
The man was charged with two counts of transmitting threats via a telephone, misdemeanors under Illinois law, said the Commander.
