The Roycemore Middle School chorus recently performed for the senior citizens at Three Crowns Park, a retirement community in Evanston. The performance featured renditions of Toto’s “Africa,” Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies,” Ronald Melrose’s “The Gypsy Fiddler” and Aaron Copland’s “Ching-A-Ring Chaw.” Students from grades 5-8, directed by Roycemore music teacher Julie Winterstein, met after school on Mondays to rehearse. The performance was part of an ongoing tradition of community outreach at Roycemore. Residents shared their experiences with the students, who were eager to listen.
