Three alumni trumpeters will solo with the Evanston Township High School bands in the ETHS Spring Band Concert on May 23. The concert begins at 7:30pm in the school’s Auditorium, 1600 Dodge Ave. in Evanston.

David Young, ETHS ’97, will be featured with the Symphonic Band playing “Satchmo,” while the Wind Ensemble will play Vivaldi’s Double Trumpet Concerto in C Major, accompanied by Ethan Bensdorf, ETHS ’03, and David Cohen, ETHS ’06. The three alums will also join the combined bands, including the Concert Band, in playing Leroy Anderson’s lively “Bugler’s Holiday.”

A post-concert reception will honor Dr. David Fodor who retires in June after 27 years serving at ETHS as Director of Marching Band, Concert Band, and the Jazz Band. Fodor served briefly as Music Department Chair and is the founder of the Evanston Jazz Festival. ETHS parents, alumni, current students, fans, and community leaders are raising money to establish the David B. Fodor Musical Residency Program, a four-year residency rotation that will benefit all students in band, orchestra, chorus, and jazz at ETHS. The ETHS Educational Foundation is handling donations.

Concert tickets are $3 for adults, $1 for students, and free to senior citizens, available at the door. The Auditorium is handicapped accessible. Parking is best in the lot on Dodge Ave., directly across from the Auditorium entrance.
