On May 20, the District 65 School Board approved resurfacing the asphalt/concrete for an outdoor basketball court and bicycle rack/cage at Haven Middle School, at a cost of $72,000. Parents at Haven have already raised $43,000 to pay for an outdoor running track at the school, which will be installed at the same time the other work is being performed. The track is intended to be open to the community.

At Kingsley Elementary School, the Board approved installing a sidewalk from Prairie Avenue to the front of the school that will provide parents and visitors easier access to the main entrance of the school. The Board also approved resurfacing an asphalt lot on the south end of the building. The total cost of these projects is $16,600.

Parents at Kingsley have raised about $12,000 and plan to raise an additional $28,000 to purchase a sports court that can be installed on the asphalt on the south side of the school building. The sports court will be used by students during outdoor gym classes and recess.
