During her semester-long self-directed project, Anna chose to study sustaining non profits for the future. As part of her course of study, Anna interned with The Infant Welfare Society of Evanston for four months. During her internship Ann learned about the economics of budgeting in a non-profit social service organization, event planning and fundraising, and social media planning. Working with IWSE’s development department, Anna managed the organization’s Facebook page and created strategy for social media marketing. The culimanation of the internship and Senior Studies Project was a fundraising event targeting graduating seniors and their parents.

The event, held at the Levey Center, raised more than $2,000 to support IWSE’s Early Childhood Education, Parenting Education and Family Support programs and services for at-risk families in Evanston and the surrounding suburbs. Ms. Hamrick was responsible for obtaining all event sponsorship, food and raffle prizes. Local Evanston restaurants Dengeo’s, Cheesies, Prairie Moon, Panino’s and Lulu’s provided the buffet dinner. Raffle items included jewelry, home decorative goods and a floral centerpiece donated by local landscape artists Muddy Gloves. Guests included ETHS Seniors and their families, ETHS teachers and local community leaders.

The Infant Welfare Society of Evanston is fortunate to have had the opportunity to help mentor one of our community’s future leaders, and isgreatful for her hard work on our behalf. For more information on the Infant Welfare Society of Evanston, visit our website at www.iswse.org.
