The Community Challenge program sponsored by NICOR gas ended on April 30, and on May 20, the YWCA Evanston/North Shore received a check for $23,500. The amount reflected the participation of Evanston residents in the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program – each participant could earn up to $50 for the YWCA, the community’s chosen recipient.

The YWCA will use the money for upgrades to make its building operations more energy efficient.

The money earned from the Community Challenge will help the YWCA Evanston/North Shore operate their building at a higher level of energy efficiency, making them a greener neighbor within the community and helping them to save money on energy consumed by their members and staff.
