To honor the occasion, a partnership of Evanston organizations is planning a celebratory Suffrage Rally at 5 p.m. on June 14 at the Frances Willard House, 1730 Chicago Avenue.
The event is free and open to the public. As part of the celebration, the City of Evanston declared June 14, 2013, to be officially 100 Years of Women Voting day. In photo above, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl signs the proclamation, while Cate Whitcomb, Susan Black and Lori Osborne look on. Ms. Black is president and Ms. Whitcomb president-elect of the League of Women Voters of Evanston. Ms. Osborne is director of the Evanston Women’s History Project.
