On June 11 at approximately 4 p.m., Evanston Police officers in the area of Evanston Township High School, responded to a combined call and on-view observations of shots fired in the area of 1600 Dodge Avenue, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department.

Officers assigned to the police department’s special operations group observed an individual fleeing and after a brief foot chase, officers took a subject into custody and recovered a handgun that was believed to be used in the incident, said the Commander.

Police also took several other subjects into police custody as a part of investigating the shots fired incident, said the Commander. No one has been reported injured as a result of this incident, and the high school is back to normal operations, he said.

The names of the persons in-custody are not being released due to the pending investigation by detectives.
