Evanston will put its creativity into even high gear when the annual Fountain Square Art Festival returns for its 34th year to downtown streets on Saturday and Sunday, July 6-7.
The weekend extravaganza is the North Shore’s oldest juried fine arts fair. Featuring the works of more than 200 artists, the festival is held at the intersections of Sherman and Church Streets just steps from the eponymous Fountain Square.
It also features an arts activity area for kids, a laidback jazz-centric music area as well as snack/beverage vendors.
The fest, perfect for strolling and a welcome respite for nearby city folks, takes up several blocks and showcases an eclectic art mix including paintings, sculptures, metalwork, jewelry, glasswork, woodwork, photography, mixed media and more.
Hours are 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. both days. A suggested gate donation of $5 benefits the Evanston Chamber of Commerce. For more information visit www.chicagoevents.com; 773.868.3010.
