The Central Street Business Association (CSBA) is looking for something new to hang on its poles. The present banners are “old and tired,” said Tom Erd, co-owner of The Spice House. The CSBA is holding a design contest for artists of all ages to come up with “something catchy and different, something creative. We’re asking designers, ‘What do you think would look good on a pole banner?’” he added.
Members of the CSBA will judge the entries, select the winning design and offer the designer a $500 cash honorarium. “After we select the winner, we may have to go back to the artist to tweak it a couple of times,” said Mr. Erd.
The banners will be displayed on about 30 poles on Central Street from Ridge Avenue to Crawford Avenue and north and south of Central Street along Green Bay Road, said Mr. Erd. The CSBA hopes to have the new banners on the poles by October.
Interested parties should contact Paige Esbrook at The Spice House, 847-328-3711 or email@example.com to receive an information packet. The deadline for final submissions is Aug. 5.
