The Dow Hotel Company, LLC (DHC), in a joint venture with Carlyle Realty Partners VI, announced on July 1 that they had acquired the Hilton Orrington hotel. The new owners plan to make a $6 million renovation/upgrade to the hotel in the next year, focusing primarily on guest rooms, corridors, upscale lounge and coffee concept, meeting and other public space.
The prior owners made major renovations to the hotel in 2004 and upgraded it to the Hilton brand in 2010. The changes in the coming year include opening a Farmhouse Evanston restaurant off the hotel’s lobby, patterned after Farmhouse Chicago.
“Our first step will be to reach out to establish close ties with the Evanston community, Northwestern University and our other neighbors,” said Murray Dow, president of DHC. “We will build on the hotel’s reputation as the North Shore’s preferred gathering place and will implement a dramatic enhancement to the food and beverage experience.”
